At the International Emmy Awards 2023 on Tuesday, Vir Das, a well-known comedian and actor, and Derry Girls Season 3 took up the International Emmy for Comedy.
With his Netflix comedy show Vir Das: Landing, Vir Das took home the prize. Vir received her second nomination for an International Emmy. Along with Argentina’s El Encargado and France’s Le Flambeau, Das and Derry Girls were also nominated. Vir Das, who is recognized as one of the forerunners in India’s contemporary stand-up comedy industry, has performed in more than 100 stand-up events and has several stand-up specials to his credit. Plus, he’s acted in more than 15 films.
The comedian’s monologue “Two Indias,” which was presented at the John F. Kennedy Centre in Washington, DC, in 2021, caused a great deal of controversy. He explored the nation’s dualism throughout the monologue, touching on issues like the reaction to COVID-19, air pollution, farmer unrest, cricket, and rape occurrences.

Vir Das, Shefali Shah and Jim Sarbh attended the Awards:
Vir was the main guest during a recent episode of The Indian Express Adda, together with actors Shefali Shah and Jim Sarbh. He talked candidly about stand-up comedy and its significance during the event. “My role was designed to help people see huge stars as human and to humanize kings for their people. Please don’t take offence at me for pointing out the flaws in society. Japanese people make gold look lovely by filling in the gaps. Here, that is what we are doing.
Vir, Shefali, and Jim added a dash of Indian glitz to the opening cocktail party of the 51st International Emmy Awards in New York. The trio stole the show with their stylish outfits as they honored their Indian heritage on this special day.
