Dior transformed Mumbai’s Gateway of India into a Fashion Ramp on Thursday night for the first time. The monument was crowded into a runway with celebrity, beauty, and craftsmanship. The show commenced with various neutrals, subtly transitioning to forest green before giving way to a blaze of bright colors and patterns.
The spectacular decoration of the iconic Taj Hotel turned India’s entertainment and business capital into a blend of color and style. The models lined up to showcase the Paris fashion houses of the pre-fall collection of 2023. It was a tribute to the nation’s craftsmen and artisans.
The ramp looks bright in traditional Indian floral designs. The Indian artistry stole the limelight thus, fusion beats from live musicians reverberated on the stage. The runway showcased silk dresses, evening coats, and saree-inspired skirts referencing traditional Indian silhouettes. There were 23 Indian models, 33 Indian models with International backgrounds, and 43 International ones.
The show also brought forward India’s luxury fashion market. Western brands like Pierre Cardin, Yves Saint Laurent, and Valentino have presented their collections in the past years.
Dior invited Indian celebrities, A-list stars, and craftsmen from India and elsewhere. The Ambanis, Rekha, Karishma Kapoor, Mira Rajput, Ananya Pandey, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, and Anushka Sharma with her husband, Virat Kohli brighten up the light of the fashion event.
The designer Maria Grazia Chiuri calls Rekha the ‘India’s Most Iconic Woman’ ahead of the Dior event.
Western celebrities in attendance at the fashion ramp included Frieda Pinto, Simone Ashley of Bridgerton, Anoushka Shankar, the sitarist, and Radhika Jones, the Vanity Fair editor-in-chief, who showed their appearance at the place. Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones and the Thai actors Mile and Apo from KinnPorsche were also spotted at the event.
