It is sad to say that Acid Attack is not new in our society. Every now and then we hear news about the same and how many girls suffer. There has been many arguments that there should be a restriction on the sale of acid. However the government doesn’t take much action.
On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, two bike-riding guys attacked a schoolgirl in Dwarka, Delhi, by throwing acid on her. According to the most recent sources, the event happened at 7:30 am, and as a result, the 17-year-old girl was sent to Safdarjung Hospital. The child has reportedly identified two people who could be involved for the incident. One of whom is already under arrest, according to the police.
She has 8% to 12% facial burns, there is also damage in her eyes, according to a doctor.
According to the girl’s father, the chemical splattered across her face and went into her eyes.
A nearby CCTV camera managed to capture shocking video of the incident. The two females can be seen crossing the street when a bike slows down and one of the riders hurls something from a glass at the 17-year-old. She is then seen running while holding her face, obviously in terrible pain. According to witnesses, the girl rushed to a neighbor who assisted in washing the chemical from her face.
Below is shocking video of the incident:
According to police, one of the suspects is under arrest and a police team is looking for the other one. Delhi Commission for Women panel chief Swati Maliwal also raises concern over the issue. She stated that why is acid so easily available and why the government is not doing anything about it.
Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal also expresses concerns over the Acid Attack case. “How did the criminals get so much courage? The criminals should be given the strictest punishment. The safety of every girl child in Delhi is important to us,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said.
The victim’s family says that she never told anything about someone troubling her. For the full story we would have to wait until the 17 year old victim recovers from her injuries and both the suspects are under arrest.
