Another criminal was shot dead in an encounter by the special task squad of the Uttar Pradesh police.

Anil Dujana was killed in an encounter with the UP Police’s special task force (STF) near Meerut. He was well-known for terrorizing residents of Noida, Ghaziabad, and other regions in the Delhi-National Capital Region. He had to deal with nearly 60 criminal cases.

Dujana was just freed from prison after being granted bail in a murder case. Immediately after that, according to sources, he began threatening one of the crucial witnesses in the murder accusation brought against him. They alleged Dujana had made the decision to murder the witness.

The STF then entered to make the arrest. Dujana and his gang confronted the police during the operation, starting a confrontation that ended with his death.

How did the encounter happen in UP?

The incident took place in a Meerut village on an unpaved road that was bordered by tall shrubs. He and his crew, according to the police, were there hiding out when the STF agents approached and started firing. The police unit promptly returned fire.

Due to recent murders of witnesses in important cases, the police took no chances when Dujana threatened the witness.

Asad Ahmed, the son of mobster Atiq Ahmed, killed the witness in the murder case of a Bahujan Samaj Party leader in February. Asad was killed in an encounter last month, and his father was shot dead in front of the camera while speaking to reporters in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, close to a hospital.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has frequently stated his intention to rid the state of gangsters and hardened criminals.

The UP Police said this month that 183 gangsters have killed in encounters since March 2017, when Yogi Adityanath was appointed Chief Minister. During the same time period, thirteen police officers died in the line of duty. The followers of mobster Vikas Dubey ambushed eight of them in a congested Kanpur road. The mobster was later killed in a confrontation.
