Naba Das, Health Minister of Odisha died from his wounds after being shot on Sunday afternoon in the Jharsuguda district. Allegedly by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Gopal Das. Das was originally taken in an air ambulance to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Apollo Hospital Bhubaneswar. He passed away in the hospital from the two gunshot wounds he received on the left side of his chest.
The Biju Janata Dal leader was an asset to the administration and his party. Said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in expressing condolences for his unexpected death. The minister was receiving treatment at a Bhubaneswar private hospital after a police officer opened fire on him. It happened when he arrived at Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda for an early-morning event. Gopal Das, the assistant sub-inspector, was therefore taken by neighbourhood people and given to police.
Naba Kisore Das, the Odisha health minister, was a dependable figure from the state’s western region and a three-time MLA. He passed away on Sunday from multiple gunshot wounds. The minister, was the wealthiest member of the state cabinet apparently. He was fond of luxury vehicles and had a collection of 40 of them.
Wife of the accused claims he was mentally ill:
According to Gopal Das’ wife, her husband has had a mental illness for the past eight years. He was the assistant sub-inspector who shot Odisha Health Minister Naba Das. In addition, she said that her husband was taking medicine and was doing well. While addressing the reporters on Sunday, ASI’s wife made the allegations and said that she was unaware of the reason why her husband had fired at the minister.
State of Odisha announces two-day mourning over death of the Minister:
The Odisha government declared a state of mourning beginning on Monday and lasting till Tuesday. Das, who had travelled to the Jharsuguda district’s Brajarajnagar town to attend a few events, was shot afterwards in the chest by assistant sub-inspector Gopal Das as he got out of his car.
His body further underwent a post-mortem late on Sunday night at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
