Doomed PM Dream Pushed Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Back To BJP

Dreams can be dangerous sometime! Sounds weird but the non-realization of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s Prime Ministerial dream has triggered storms in the state politics once again with the JD(U) chief breaking away from the existing Grand Alliance (GA) to be a part of the NDA. The fresh development comes barely 17 months after he formed the GA government in the state after dumping the NDA on August 10, 2022.

The JD(U) had been frequently describing Nitish as the “Prime Minister of ideas”, indirectly projecting him as the PM face of the opposition bloc, right since Nitish held a meeting of the opposition parties in Patna on June 23 last year and brought as many as 15 frontline opposition parties at one platform.

Subsequently, three more meetings of the opposition were held in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi but there was no unanimity on appointing Nitish, architect of opposition unity, as the convener of the INDIA bloc. Informed sources said Nitish, however, lost his patience apparently after Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee proposed the name of Kharge for opposition bloc’s PM candidate which was promptly backed by AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. That was the warning signal for Nitish, many says.
