With an eye on the 2024 polls, BJP set to appoint a few state presidents

The BJP may make some changes in its organization, appoint new presidents of a few state units and change the roles of some of its leaders in the near future, with an aim to gear up ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the sources said on Tuesday.

Many people believe that several of its office bearers having relatively less experience in election management may also be replaced within the party circles, sources said.

The party is also discussing that prominent leaders from Gujarat and Maharashtra may be given some key additional assignments.

The BJP is also improvising strategies for states such as Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, to repeat and improve from its previous performances that could involve its hands-on leaders in these states.

Amit Shah, a senior BJP leader, and Union home minister held a marathon meeting on Monday and Tuesday with party president JP Nadda and its general secretary (organization) BL Santhosh, which is being seen as a brainstorming session to fix responsibilities for 2024.

Among its general secretaries – Tarun Chugh, Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal have already been given the task of looking after the party’s outreach work on those Lok Sabha seats where the BJP is relatively weak.
