“I am happy that Deve Gowda ji met our Prime Minister and they have already finalised about 4 seats. I welcome them…,” said Yediyurappa to reporters.

JD(S) had reportedly sought opinions of the MLAs, ex-MLAs, and senior party leaders about supporting the BJP in Lok Sabha election and most leaders had given their opinion in favour of an alliance with the BJP.

Earlier, HD Kumaraswamy, the former chief minister had claimed at various times that the JDS would fight alone, while HD Devegowda had said the party cadre were not slaves of any National party.

In 2019 JDS had won just one Lok Sabha seat from the family pocket borough of Hassan where HD Devegowda had made way for grand nephew Prajwal Revanna.
