Kichcha Sudeep , a popular Kannada film star, in support of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai came out to offer a campaign for him in the Karnataka elections on Wednesday.
Sudeep’s support gives strength to BJP’s campaign efforts in the poll-bound state, Cm praised the actor by saying.
The election polls will be held on the 10th of May and the result are scheduled to be announced on May 13.
The Kannada actor clarified the fact that he will not join any political party. He will only campaign for Bhartiya Janta Party and not contest any assembly polls. Having knowing the CM since childhood, he owed him a debt of gratitude. Kichcha also told that he will not charge any fee for campaigning. He would campaign only for his assigned seats and within his human limitations, he added.
The congress leader , RJ Surjewala, criticized the BJP, saying that the BJP is relying on film stars for support. He said this because no one was listening to the Chief Minister. “People, not film stars, will decide the fate of Karnataka”, he tweeted.
The rumor that the actor is joining BJP is being circulated on social media before he made the announcement of not joining any political party. Rather, he said that he would support those who stood by him in his times of difficulty.
The minister added that the inclusion of artists and several leaders in Karnataka elections from other parties will work towards strengthening the political party.
