FIFA World Cup 2022: Quarter Finalists Decided.

The Quarter Finalists for the FIFA World Cup 2022 are decided as Round of 16 concludes. Quarter finals start from Friday.

After a series of matches, the quarter finalists for the FIFA World Cup are decided. For the last match of Round of 16, Portugal thrashed Switzerland 6-1. However, the score is very disturbing for Morocco, who will face Portugal in the Quarter final on Saturday.

Top teams like Germany and Belgium were already eliminated during the group stage, and Spain, the 2010 champion, was eliminated after losing to Morocco on penalties in the Round of 16. With strong performances, giants like France, Brazil, Portugal, and England have qualified for the final eight. In the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup, four teams will advance to the semi-finals after some thrilling matches.

The most amazing part of this time’s World Cup is the way Underdog teams have and are playing. Morocco defeated Spain who won the 2010 World Cup. However the more astonishing fact is that they did not let Spain score even one goal in the penalty shootouts.

Croatia also has its spot fixed in the Quarter Finals after defeating Japan in the Round of 16. This makes the World Cup more interesting as the further qualifying matches will not just be the usual Giants of the tournament. It will be more exciting to see if the underdogs can manage to proceed even further into the semi-finals.

Here are the full Round of 16 Match Results:

  1. Netherlands beat USA 3-1
  2. Argentina beat Australia 2-1
  3. France beat Poland 3-1
  4. England beat Senegal 3-0
  5. Croatia beat Japan 3-1 on penalties
  6. Brazil beat South Korea 4-1
  7. Morocco beat Spain on penalties
  8. Portugal beat Switzerland 6-1

Here is the Schedule for Quarter Finals:

  1. 9th December, Friday (8:30 PM IST): Croatia vs Brazil in Education City Stadium
  2. 10th December, Saturday (12:30 AM IST): Netherlands vs Argentina in Lusail Stadium
  3. 10th December, Saturday (8:30 PM IST): Portugal vs Morocco in Al Thumama Stadium
  4. 11th December, Sunday (12:30 AM IST): England vs France in Al Bayt Stadium

Seeing the performance of the qualified teams, it is tough to say who will therefore qualify and who will not. Finally, the next 11 days will be a ball of a time for football fans.

Do you think the underdogs Morocco and Croatia have what it takes to go further?
