Morocco is turning out to be quite an underdog team at the FIFA World Cup 2022. It has defeated Portugal 1-0 in the quarter final, thus eliminating it. Therefore, after defeating Portugal 1-0 on Saturday, Morocco advanced to the World Cup semifinals for the first time ever. The first-half header by Youssef En-Nesyri gave Morocco a historic victory, and they will now play France, the defending champions, in the final.
After being defeated on penalties by Croatia, a team that has now won four straight shootouts, Brazil was eliminated from the World Cup. Even though this World Cup might not be his last, at 30 years old, Neymar understood it was probably his last World Cup as a star. Afterwards, he stayed on the field sobbing in the arms of teammates.
The World Cup is basically getting more and more interesting as the top teams like France, Argentina will face the underdogs Morocco and Croatia. Finally, it will be interesting to witness these fixtures as no one has predicted them.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo shared an Instagram post where he wrote a big note indicating that this was probably his last World Cup.
Below is the post from the Champ:
The Caption is in Portuguese, following is the translation:
“There’s no point in reacting rashly,” Ronaldo wrote. “I just want everybody to know that a lot has been said, a lot has been written, a lot has been speculated about, but my dedication to Portugal has never wavered for an instant.
“I’ve always been just one more (Portuguese) fighting for everyone’s goal. I would never turn my back on my teammates or my country.”
Ronaldo, who is the all-time leading scorer in men’s international soccer with 118 goals, said putting Portugal “on the highest level in the world” was his biggest dream.
“In my five appearances at World Cups over 16 years, always playing alongside great players and supported by millions of Portuguese. I have given my all,” he wrote. “I left everything I had on the pitch. I’ll never shrink from a battle and I have never given up on that dream.
“Unfortunately, that dream ended yesterday.”
“let everyone draw their own conclusions.
“For now. There’s not much else to say. Thank you, Portugal. Thank you, Qatar. The dream was beautiful as long as it lasted.”
This is very sad for every Ronaldo fan.
What’s done is done, now we have to wait and watch whether Messi and his Argentina can bring home the World Cup. This is also Messi’s last World Cup. The FIFA World Cup 2022 will finally conclude on Saturday, 17th December. The semi finals are on 14th and 15th Respectively.
