India vs Bangladesh: Bangladesh leads ODI Series 2-0

In the currently happening India tour of Bangladesh, The latter is leading by 2-0. What do this mean for the Indian Cricket Team.

On Wednesday, Bangladesh beat India by five runs in the second One-Day International to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the India vs Bangladesh series. Mehidy Hasan Miraz (100 not out), who chose to bat, smashed his first ODI century and joined forces with Mahmudullah Riyadh (77) to add 148 runs, helping Bangladesh to a daunting total of 271/7.

After the impressive series win against New Zealand, the Indian team seemed to be in good hands. However in the currently on-going India vs Bangladesh series, it does not seem so. The Indian team is struggling to win against Bangladesh. The home country is currently leading the series 2-0 which automatically means Bangladesh has won it. The third match, which is tomorrow will however, not bring any change in the result of the series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that left-arm wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav has been added to India’s lineup for the third and final ODI against Bangladesh. KL Rahul will captain the team in Rohit Sharma’s absence (BCCI).

Lineup for the last ODI:

Yadav was initially selected for the two-match series against Bangladesh that began on December 14 in India’s Test squad. BCCI is calling him back up for the third and final ODI against Bangladesh because fast bowlers Kuldeep Sen and Deepak Chahar have to withdraw owing to injury.

In the second over of the second ODI on Wednesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Rohit hurt his left thumb while fielding. Afterwards, he went under medical examination by the BCCI medical team, and at a nearby Dhaka hospital. The ball dipped on him and struck his thumb as he was attempting to take a catch at second slip from Anamul Haque off bowler Mohammed Siraj.

These last minute changes and Rohit going to back to Mumbai make sense. The last match of the series will make no difference in the result so it would be better for Rohit to take rest back home.

India Playing XI 3rd ODI:

  • KL Rahul (VC)
  • Shikhar Dhawan
  • Virat Kohli
  • Ishan Kishan (WK)
  • Shreyas Iyer
  • Washington Sundar
  • Shahbaz Ahmed
  • Axar Patel
  • Shardul Thakur
  • Mohd Siraj
  • Umran Malik

The line-up for the last match of India vs Bangladesh ODI seems good enough. BCCI is therefore all in for trying new combinations to see how the team performs. Let’s see if the team can break Bangladesh’s streak and chase to a clean sheet win of the series.
