Defending 11 runs off the final over in just his second IPL 2023 game, pacer Mohsin Khan gave Lucknow Super Giants a thrilling 5-run victory over the five-time champion Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. Against the destructive Tim David and the top all-rounder Cameron Green, Mohsin bowled a fantastic final over.
After winning, Mohsin gave a performance in honour of his ailing father, who had been discharged from the hospital after ten days in the intensive care unit.
The 24-year-old had an outstanding campaign in his debut season, but a left shoulder injury kept him out of the whole domestic campaign and the majority of the IPL this year.

Mohsin Khan dedicates his play to his father:
“Playing after a year while injured has been difficult. I did it for my father since he would have been watching; he was in the hospital for the last 10 days and was discharged from the ICU yesterday, he stated at the presentation.
Even though I didn’t do well in the last game, I’m grateful to the team, the support staff, Gautam (Gambhir) sir, and Vijay (Dahiya) sir for playing me in this one. Regarding his strategy for the decisive over, Khan stated: “The strategy was to put what I did in practice into action. Even Krunal was speaking to me, and I agreed with him. The run-up has not changed from the previous over.
Mumbai lost 54 runs in the final three overs despite Marcus Stoinis’ excellent performance (89 off 47 balls).”The last three overs went for a few, and we handed up too many runs at the end. However, based on how we batted initially, we were in a strong position to chase, but as I already mentioned, in the second half, we lost our way.
One of the good things IPL has every year is introduction of young blood to Indian Cricket. These players have a good platform on IPL to show their talent and advance their career in cricket. Mohsin Khan is a perfect example of the same.
