Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir fined 100 percent match fees for verbal spat, Naveen-ul-Haq fined 50% fee

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had an alteration between the IPL match of Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow which cost them the complete match fees.

On Monday, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had an alteration between the IPL match of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow which cost them the complete match fees. Banglore beat Super Giants by 18 runs in the match.

Details of the fine:

“Lucknow Super Giants’ captain Gautam Gambhir has been fined 100 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Gambhir admitted to the Level 2 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

“Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli has been fined 100 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants. Kohli admitted to the Level 2 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” IPL said in a release late on Monday night.

“Lucknow Super Giants’ bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been fined 50 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Naveen-ul-Haq admitted to the Level 1 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” IPL said.

Gambhir, Kohli, and Naveen admitted to their respective offense and accepted the sanctions.

The match started to get heated in the latter half while the LSG chased. Kohli had heated exchanges with LSG cricketers Amit Mishra and Naveen-ul-Haq, which continued well after the match was finished.

Kohli again swapped a few words with Naveen and Afghanistan pacer was seen brushing off Kohli after an aggressive shake of hands. Gambhir was also seen hurling a mouthful at Kohli.
