A knife-wielding woman allegedly stabbed two people, killing one and injuring another, in New York’s crowded Times Square on Monday, August 31, 2026. Police later shot the woman during the confrontation, and she was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed that one victim had died while the other was in stable condition. Police said the incident remains under investigation and is not believed to be terror-related.
