Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, and trust member Anil Mishra resigned on Saturday (June 27, 2026), following allegations related to the alleged embezzlement of Ram Temple donations. The resignations were confirmed by Vijay Shankar Tiwari, national spokesperson of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).
The controversy stems from corruption allegations concerning donations received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra (SRJTK) Trust, with Champat Rai facing scrutiny over the handling of the funds.
In a statement, the Trust’s treasurer, Govind Giri, said, “General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya, Champat Rai, has tendered his resignation along with trust member Anil Mishra. The Trust will consider their resignations at its next meeting.”

Meanwhile, a letter circulating on social media claiming to be the Trust’s clarification on Champat Rai’s resignation has drawn attention, although it carries neither the Trust’s official letterhead nor any authorised signature.
The purported clarification also sought to reassure devotees who had donated silver bricks, jewellery and other valuables to Lord Ram, stating that all such offerings remain safe and have been properly accounted for.
