Permission mandatory for installation of Ganesha idols at public places, says Mandya DC

Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumar has announced that obtaining permission is mandatory for installing Ganesha idols in public places. Groups, associations, and individuals planning such installations must submit an application in the prescribed format through the single-window system at the tahsildar’s office.

During a video conference with taluk-level officials, Kumar assured that applications will be verified and approved within 24 hours, eliminating the need for applicants to visit multiple offices. The single-window system will include officials from the police, fire department, CESC, and local bodies.

Authorities reviewing applications must check details such as procession routes, expected crowd size, and immersion sites. Once permissions are granted, daily updates on locations requiring heightened security should be shared with the police and district administration.

Kumar directed that two to three suitable immersion spots be identified in each hobli or town, with arrangements for proper lighting, barricades, and deployment of swimmers at water bodies. Urban local bodies have also been instructed to provide water tankers for idol immersion and publicize their routes for public convenience.
