In the wake of evening out claims of MLA-poaching against the BJP, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal won the trust vote in the gathering on Thursday.
58 MLAs cast a ballot for Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the trust vote. The AAP has 62 MLAs in the 70-part Delhi Assembly, while the BJP has eight.
Kejriwal had proposed a certainty movement in the Delhi Assembly in the wake of claiming that the resistance BJP’s ‘Activity Lotus’ to bring down his administration flopped as it couldn’t get any of the AAP MLAs to get over. The movement was postponed in the House on August 29, Monday.
“They neglected to purchase even a solitary AAP MLA in Delhi. We have 62 MLAs, two are out of the country, and one is in prison. The fourth part is the Speaker of the House,” the Delhi CM said after the trust movement was passed.
Last week, Kejriwal affirmed that the BJP had designated 40 AAP MLAs and offered Rs 20 crore to every one of them to switch sides.
