At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, CSK beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs in match 33 of the IPL 2023. Jason Roy (61) and Rinku Singh (53*) both scored half-centuries as KKR chased a total of 236 but only managed to reach 186/8 in 20 overs. For CSK, Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande both claimed two wickets. With the help of half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway, and Shivam Dube, CSK first reached 235/4 in 20 overs.
Rahane smashed an unbeaten 71 runs off 29 balls, including six fours and five sixes, to complete an unbeaten innings. Conway, on the other hand, pounded out 56 runs off of 40 deliveries, including four fours and three maximums.
When Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni arrived at the storied cricket stadium on Sunday night to face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the crowd was standing. In the IPL 2023 points standings, CSK is now ranked first, and they plan to keep winning. KKR appears to have fizzled out following two outstanding victories at the same time. They had only two victories in six games. As the league approaches the halfway point, it’s time for them to get serious.
MS Dhoni not making changes in CSK Lineup:
Ben Stokes seems healthy. He is also hitting in the nets. Old-school Dhoni, though, is not yet motivated to alter the starting 11. In the most recent game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he relied solely on his youthful pacers to perform. Because of the spin-friendly wicket at Eden Gardens, I don’t believe Moeen will drop Maheesh Theekshana or Moeen Ali in order to make room for Stokes. The KKR team, which is controlled by Shah Rukh Khan, may eventually want to try Jason Roy in the starting 11. It is safe to say that Dhoni’s strategy is working well enough for CSK as is at top of table.
Delhi Capitals on the other is not having the most ideal IPL season that its fans predicted. DC is at the bottom of table with only 1 match won. It looks like there will be play-offs for Delhi Capitals after all.
