NEW DELHI: The seasoned wicketkeeper-batsman, Dinesh Karthik is amicable to make his final appearance in the Indian Premier League during the 2024 edition, which commences on March 22.
Following his IPL stint, the 38-year-old staunch will wanton on his international retirement, marking the conclusion of an illustrious cricketing journey.
A BCCI source proclaimed that the upcoming IPL season will mark Karthik’s swansong in the tournament. Karthik, who brags an impressive IPL record, has been an integral part of the league since its inception in 2008, having represented six different teams over the years.

Karthik’s IPL journey began with the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in 2008, followed by stints with Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and his current team, Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Well-known for his sharp batting prowess and leadership skills, Karthik’s impactful performances in the Indian Premier League have earned him paeans and respect from his fanatics. Notably, his stellar display for RCB in the 2022 season, where he amassed 330 runs in 16 matches at a remarkable average of 55 and a staggering strike rate of 183.33, solidified his reputation as a formidable finisher.
