The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is set to celebrate the iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell with an exhibition titled “Naomi.” This groundbreaking showcase marks the first time a model will be the focus of an exhibition at the prestigious V&A. Naomi Campbell’s remarkable four-decade-long career will take center stage, allowing visitors to delve into the world of this fashion legend. The exhibition, slated to open on June 22, 2024, and run until April 6, 2025, promises to be a captivating journey through the life and career of Naomi Campbell. Curated by Sonnet Stanfill, the V&A’s curator, “Naomi” will provide a “broad survey of past and present,” celebrating the significant moments and individuals that have shaped her extraordinary career. This unique exhibition will feature pieces from Naomi’s personal wardrobe and iconic runway looks lent by renowned designers, creating an immersive experience.

As reported by Vogue, Stanfill explained that the exhibition aims to tell the story of Naomi’s career through the lens of fashion, showcasing the “extraordinary” garments she has donned over the years. The exhibition will also feature a curated selection of fashion photography, overseen by British Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful. These images will capture the magic created when Naomi collaborates with photographers, bringing her unique charisma to life on the pages of magazines.

What sets “Naomi” apart is not only its focus on the supermodel but also Naomi Campbell’s active involvement in its curation. Stanfill emphasized that the exhibition is not merely a retrospective; instead, it acknowledges Naomi’s ongoing influence and relevance in the fashion world. She continues to feature in ad campaigns, occupies coveted front-row seats, and graces runways, making her a contemporary force to be reckoned with.

The exhibition will span 100 items in total, showcasing pieces from legendary designers such as Azzedine Alaïa, Yves Saint Laurent, and Gianni Versace, who played pivotal roles in shaping Naomi’s early career. It will also explore her more recent runway moments, including designs from Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier, Virgil Abloh, and more. Among the featured garments is the iconic pink feathered and lace gown designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino, which Naomi wore to the Met Gala in 2019.
