With larger-than-life venues and decor, and of course, the most ostentatious outfits, Bollywood is the propagator of the big fat Indian wedding aesthetic. But, this time it sounded different. Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding with Zaheer Iqbal, her long-time beau was an unexpected subversion. Surrounded by friends and families, the actors entered matrimony by signing papers in the most low-key event followed by a reception party. Naturally, their outfits, too, were an extension of that simplistic outlook for both events, but in no way were they not statement-making.
Let us look at the outfits Sonakshi chose for her wedding.
Sonakshi’s First Outfit

The actress chose a cream-coloured sari embroidered with intricate chikankari work and a simple high-neck blouse for her wedding. The sources say that the sari belongs to her mother, Poonam Sinha, who wore it to her wedding with Shatrughan Sinha in 1980. The motifs featured are nature-inspired, with flowers and foliage designs. She completed her look with a simple pearl choker, and matching earrings, and stacked three matching bangles in her right hand. On her left, she wore gold kadas. With neutral makeup, she decorated her hair with flowers.

Sonakshi’s Reception Sari

For the reception, Sonakshi wore a handwoven Banarasi sari from Raw Mango by designer Sanjay Garg that retails on his website for Rs 79,800. Featuring 18th-century-inspired buttons in the shape of a crescent moon, the sari was the perfect continuation of the vintage theme of the wedding. She chose a necklace made with jade stones meenakari detailing, and matching danglers. She wore red bangles, symbolic of a newly married woman, to finish the look.
