Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has criticized star batter Babar Azam and other players for putting personal interests ahead of team objectives. Babar’s recent form and leadership have come under heavy scrutiny from former players, as he has failed to score a half-century in his last 16 Test innings.
Younis expressed his disappointment, stating, “If Babar and other top players deliver on the field, then results will be clear to everyone. Humare players khelte kam, bolte zyada hai. (I have observed that our players tend to talk more than they perform).”
The former captain also advised Babar to learn from Virat Kohli’s example, highlighting how the India star batter relinquished his captaincy to focus more on his batting.

“Look at Virat Kohli. He chose to step down from captaincy on his own terms, and now he’s breaking records worldwide. This shows that playing for the country should be the priority. If there’s any energy left, then play for yourself,” Younis suggested.
Younis also highlighted the significance of Babar’s role as captain, urging him to concentrate on his performance. He reminded Babar that he was appointed captain because he was the top player at the time, and there are high expectations for him.
Younis advised Babar to prioritize his fitness and work ethic, stressing that such opportunities are rare.
Meanwhile, Virat is in Chennai for the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh, set to begin on September 19, with the second Test scheduled for Kanpur on September 27.
