CERT-In issues advisory on vulnerabilities affecting iPhones, iPads, and Macs

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has warned about security risks to Apple devices, including iPhones, Macs, and Apple Watches. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has released a “High Severity” advisory, highlighting multiple vulnerabilities in Apple devices running outdated software versions. According to CERT-In, these vulnerabilities could enable attackers to access sensitive data, execute arbitrary code, and bypass security restrictions, or even authentication controls.

The warning applies to iPhones running iOS versions earlier than iOS 18 or iOS 17.7, iPads on iPadOS versions before iPadOS 18 or iPadOS 17.7, Macs with outdated macOS versions, and Apple Watches running watchOS versions below watchOS 11. Vulnerabilities have also been identified in older versions of tvOS, the Safari browser, and the Xcode development software. While Apple has yet to launch its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset in India, CERT-In also flagged potential threats to devices running older versions of visionOS.
