Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was admitted to the emergency department of Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday at around 8 p.m. Sources informed PTI that the 92-year-old veteran Congress leader’s condition is critical. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the institute to assess his health.
Former Rajasthan chief minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot posted on X,”Deeply concerned about the health of Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. Wishing him a speedy recovery and good health.”

Dr. Singh, who served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year, concluding 33 years of service in the Upper House. India’s only Sikh Prime Minister, he entered the Rajya Sabha in 1991, four months after being sworn in as Finance Minister under the PV Narasimha Rao government. Representing Assam for five terms, he shifted to Rajasthan in 2019. His last parliamentary intervention was a strong critique of demonetisation, which he described as “organised loot and legalised plunder.”
