Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday at the age of 92. He was admitted to the emergency ward of Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) around 8 PM. The veteran Congress leader had retired from the Rajya Sabha in April, concluding a 33-year-long tenure in the Upper House.
Dr. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, had been undergoing treatment for age-related health issues. According to an official statement from AIIMS, he experienced a sudden loss of consciousness at home on December 26, 2024.

Immediate resuscitation efforts were initiated before he was transported to AIIMS at 8:06 PM. Despite all medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 9:51 PM.He is survived by his wife, Gurcharan Singh, and three daughters.
Upon hearing the news of his hospitalisation, Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Sonia Gandhi rushed to the hospital.
