Lionel Messi to return to Barcelona? Fans gets their hope up.

As Messi's contract at Paris Saint-Germain is coming to an end in summer in 2023. Fans anticipate his return to FC Barcelona.

Seven-time Ballon d’Or winner made a splash when he came to Parc des Princes in the summer of 2021. However his relationship with France’s fervent fan base has soured. While enjoying Argentina’s World Cup victory, Lionel Messi has tallied 18 goals and 17 assists this year. He hasn’t always given his best for Paris Saint-Germain, though, and he hasn’t cut relations with Barcelona despite rumors that he would return to Camp Nou as a free agent.

Regarding Messi’s tenure in Ligue 1, former PSG star Rothen said RMC Sport, “Leo Messi epitomises football, everything I love in football. He has left his stamp on football history and is arguably the best of all time. However, we have been really unhappy with his performance throughout his two seasons at PSG. I’m not even referring to his investment in the team; I’m just mentioning that he has defended the club in interviews to demonstrate that he is content to reside in Paris and that he has established himself. On the other hand, we have always noticed bad things.

Bayern Munich eliminated PSG from the Champions League in the round of 16, and as a result, worries over Messi’s future have increased as he refuses to sign a new contract and is connected to teams in Spain, the United Soccer League, and the Middle East.

Possible options for Lionel Messi:

Messi led Barcelona with 672 goals. He started his career over here. Messi played with current Barca coach Xavi, who is keen to welcome the Argentine legend back. But Xavi also said that Messi’s passion will determine whether or not he comes back. Not to mention, Messi left Barcelona in 2021 with tears in his eyes after being informed that the team could not pay his contract due to mounting financial strain.

According to rumors, Lionel Messi may relocate to Saudi Arabia, joining his longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo. At a record price, CR 7 joined Al Nassr early this year. A record-breaking wage has apparently been offered to Messi by Al Hilal, another elite team in the Saudi Pro League. If that occurs, Messi vs. Ronaldo will once again be a usual affair again.
