Calls for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation as Liberal leader grew louder on Wednesday as Liberal MPs met on Parliament Hill, according to CBC News.
During a closed-door caucus meeting, dissenting MPs expressed their concerns to Trudeau, highlighting rising discontent within the party. This weekly gathering, held while the House of Commons is in session, allowed MPs to directly voice their frustrations.
Trudeau is under increasing pressure from within his party, with some Liberal MPs giving him a deadline to decide his future by October 28. During the meeting, a document outlining reasons for his resignation was presented, although it did not specify any repercussions for failing to meet the deadline.
Sources told Radio-Canada that 24 MPs signed a petition urging Trudeau to step down. British Columbia MP Patrick Weiler presented a document advocating for his resignation, suggesting that the Liberal party could revitalize itself similarly to how the Democrats benefited from Joe Biden’s decision not to run for re-election.

.Immigration Minister Marc Miller acknowledged the frustrations expressed by some Liberal MPs and respected their willingness to confront Trudeau directly. He noted that while the issues have been building for some time, “this isn’t a code red situation. The prime minister can handle the truth,” according to CBC News.
