Enhanced Crowd Control Measures in Varanasi for Maha Shivratri
Authorities in Varanasi are preparing for an unprecedented influx of devotees on Maha Shivratri, with a significant number of pilgrims expected to arrive from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, approximately 130 km away.
To manage the anticipated crowd, the police have implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan to prevent prolonged congestion. Key measures include traffic diversions, vehicle entry restrictions within city limits, and barricades at crucial points. In certain areas, vehicular movement is completely prohibited.
At railway stations, designated holding areas have been established to guide passengers to their trains in an orderly manner. Police teams are stationed at both ends of these zones to ensure smooth crowd movement. Special waiting areas have also been arranged for travelers heading to Prayagraj, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and other destinations.
