Delhi Election Results: PM Modi to Address BJP Workers at Party Headquarters This Evening, Says Virendra Sachdeva

Delhi Election Results: As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears set for victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, according to trends released by the Election Commission, Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva announced on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the party headquarters later in the evening to address workers.

“People of Delhi have shown faith in PM Modi. It’s a huge victory for us and the people of Delhi…He (PM Modi) will come to the party headquarters in the evening,” Sachdeva said.

Visuals from New Delhi showed BJP workers celebrating outside the party office as polling trends indicated a likely win, marking the BJP’s return to power in the national capital after 27 years. Supporters were seen bursting firecrackers, dancing, and singing. BJP leaders, including Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva and party Vice President Baijayant Panda, gathered at the headquarters.

As per Election Commission data at approximately 1 PM, the BJP was leading in 47 constituencies, surpassing the majority mark required to secure power in the 70-seat Delhi Assembly. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was ahead in 22 seats, while Congress failed to secure a single win. The majority threshold to form the government stands at 36.

Earlier today, Delhi BJP President Sachdeva stated that the people of Delhi had chosen PM Modi’s governance model over Arvind Kejriwal’s. Speaking to ANI, he described the election as a battle between good and bad governance.

“The situation in Delhi–contaminated water, broken roads, poor sanitation, pollution in Yamuna, and much more–is a reflection of Kejriwal’s model of governance, which the people of Delhi have rejected,” he said.

“On the other hand, Modi ji’s model of good governance is one that the entire nation respects. People have chosen good governance,” he said.

Sachdeva further accused AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, of betraying the public.

“Their prominent leaders will lose the elections because they have betrayed the public. Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Atishi–these are all faces of corruption. The people will not forgive them,” Sachdeva said.

Polling for Delhi’s 70-member assembly took place on February 5, with a recorded voter turnout of 60.54%. The BJP’s campaign, led by PM Modi, focused on issues such as alleged pollution in the Yamuna River and the renovation of Kejriwal’s residence.

During the campaign, PM Modi also used terms like “Aapda” and “Sheesh Mahal” to criticize Kejriwal’s administration.
